From Sea Otters to Seoul: Unpacking My Personal Map
Recently, someone suggested I had an astrocartography reading done. I did not know that existed, but it had “astro” in it, so I figured I could learn something.
I have always been curious about the stars. So much so, that in high school I thought I was going to study astrophysics—I am still trying to understand how I ended up with a degree in architecture.
So, I went to a website, entered my birth information and it presented me with this map. I went from hardcore physics to pseudoscience at the click of a button. I was fascinated by it. I am actually going to share this here, because it was such a cool visual, maybe you will end up doing yours as well. It’s free.
The map is a Mundo (with Latitude) method (v1.0)

So what are we looking at?
An overlay that is unique to my natal birth chart across a global map. Those vertical and curved colored lines mark where specific planets were sitting directly on the four main angles of my chart at the precise moment I was born.
The angles and their meanings:
| Angle | What It Controls | What It Feels Like |
| AC(Ascendant) | Self & Identity | Influences how you feel in your body, your presence, personal vitality, and direct self-expression. |
| MC(Midheaven) | Career & Public Life | Boosts professional ambition, reputation, visibility, and legacy. Great for career moves. |
| DC(Descendant) | Relationships & Others | Draws in relationships, romantic partners, business collaborations, and client connections. |
| IC (Imum Coeli) | Home & Roots | Focuses on psychological grounding, family dynamics, private life, and where you feel at home. |
So, does it mean you are at your best when you hit one of those lines? Not necessarily. The way it was explained to me, it’s all about the corridors and energy intensity. One might seek expansion and flow, or choose to avoid high tension, competition and potential for friction.
Simply put: when you visit different places, they make you feel a certain way. If you’ve traveled, I’m sure you understand that feeling. Having moved at least 10 times in 18 years, I have a lot of personal data on this. Some places draw you in; others make you feel at peace, completely at home, highly energetic, or restless.
According to this map I shared, and until someone more knowledgable corrects me, this is what it is saying:
There are 5 main corridors alongside Neutral Zones: vast regions where no major planetary lines run. They act as clean slates without heavy cosmic pressure, meaning the pressure is solely on you.
The Origin & Essence Corridor (Rio de Janeiro, RJ – Brazil)
The Energy: Natal zero-point, Ascendant (AC) vitality, Sun-centered identity, and Moon emotional roots.
What It Feels Like: Total familiarity, heightened personal magnetism, and visceral self-expression. Because this is where my chart was set, Rio acts as a core frequency reset, a place where my identity doesn’t require explanation, but where personal intensity and emotional roots run deep.
My take: This is incredibly accurate. Every time I go back I feel justified, understood. A huge wave of nostalgia hits me in the core. The scents, the coconut water, the music, the laughter, the food (!), and the memories. I struggle with the feeling of leaving as well as staying. It is super strange. Maybe there is a word for this feeling, but I haven’t found it yet.
The Sanctuary and Creative Focus Corridor (Florida and US East Coast)
The Energy: Imum Coeli (IC) grounding, Sun/Venus internal alignment, and private studio focus.
What It Feels Like: Quiet stabilization, spatial beauty, and uninterrupted creative production. This corridor provides the essential safety net and peaceful backdrop needed to write, design, and build a sustainable long-term foundation away from public noise.
My take: no words. This entire new life transition is unfolding as I write this post. I have finally figured out how I want architecture to exist in my life, and how I am going to execute this whole vision.
This writing situation? It feels new, but maybe it isn’t that new. According to my mom, I used to write a lot as a kid. All I remember is writing letters to boys. I don’t know what to tell you other than it was very effective!
Beyond that, the group of women around me right now is incredible, and I feel very lucky to have them in my corner.
The Private Sanctuary Beam (Santa Barbara, Pacific Grove, & Carmel, California)
The Energy: Sun IC and Venus IC lines operating along the CA coast.
What it Feels like: The spotlight here is turned inward. It’s a laser beam on my private sanctuary, personal authenticity, and home life, making these specific cities feel like intense emotional safe havens where I can recharge without the outside world staring at me.
My take: I actually lived in Pacific Grove in the most incredible location. From my home office, I watched sea otters in the morning, whales in the afternoon, and deer all day long. It is a magical place, and it will forever hold a special place in my heart. It is also where Emilia, my youngest daughter, was born. I don’t think I can write any more about it, or I’ll just burst into tears.
The Relational and Aesthetic Exchange Corridors (Paris and Western Europe)
The Energy: Descendant (DC) and Venus relational lines.
What It Feels Like: Refined design inspiration, social ease, and meaningful creative partnerships. This line highlights cultural dialogue, artistic resonance, and connecting with people and environments that mirror my aesthetic standards.
My take: Having lived in Europe twice, I can attest to feeling incredibly at home when I am there. Paris and I have an interesting relationship. Every time I am there I feel like I know the city like the back of my hand, even though I have only visited twice. The connection is almost inexplicable. Italy and Portugal, where I have actually lived and studied are directly connected to that artistic resonance and mirroring aesthetic standards. I have to say, that lifestyle is a total game changer. I really miss the easygoing pace of it.
The Public Engine & Legacy Hubs (Seoul and East Asia)
The Energy: Midheaven (MC) alignment under Sun and Venus lines.
What It Feels Like: Professional authority, high artistic visibility, and international reach. Moving or projecting my work into this corridor amplifies ambition, pulls in large-scale recognition, and puts my creative output on a prominent global stage.
My take: Well, this one is the “wild horse”. A mix of dark horse and wildcard? Who knows, that’s just what my brain came up with. But it really is totally out of left field.
From a young age, I remember saying I wanted to visit Japan because I wanted to experience the feeling of not understanding anything. Hahaha, sorry, I have to laugh because that is such a typical thing for me to say. I even used to plan on walking around carrying a little phrasebook to try to talk to people! Now that I’ve certified myself as insane, let’s keep moving.
Maybe a year ago (or maybe not even that long ago), I started learning Korean. Low key, zero expectations, except, of course, to master it in a few months. All I need to survive is: 미쳤어?!
My kids are used to my seemingly random decision-making. To them, it looks completely spontaneous, but there’s always a full thought process behind it. Truthfully, I was just tired of reading subtitles and feeling like I was missing subtle nuances in translation. It sounded like a rich language, and I figured, why not? I’ve been learning languages on a whim since I was a kid.
What do you do when you start learning a language? You listen to music. Little did I know, my youngest would soon be asking to listen to specific songs, too. Then, she started taking Taekwondo after a friend invited her to class, and now she can count in Korean and is basically ready to relocate to Asia. I rest my case.
Sixteen years ago, I was first introduced to Do Ho Suh’s work while at the Accademia. He is a complete genius to me. Total fan. Not too long ago, I was finally able to express to him how deeply I love his art. The small gifts social media can actually give you.
Maybe I need to schedule a trip out there sometime next year. In the meantime, I will stay here in Tampa, recharging, and laying the foundation for whatever it is I am building next. If relocation is in the cards I will figure that out when the time comes.
