In Your Embrace
I live for this moment.
Summer days start to fade,
and I can’t wait to feel
your weight over my body.
Like a big hug,
you embrace every inch of me.
It’s so comfortable here.
It doesn’t matter how good
or bad the day went,
I know I’ll have a moment with you.
I slowly make my way underneath you.
Like a caterpillar,
I want to turn into a cocoon.
The night is not long enough
for our dance.
Then it’s lights out.
The trapped warmth is still
circulating.
I put you in between my legs,
hoping the heat will dissipate.
Mornings are hard.
I have to leave you.
I’m not ready.
The alarm sounds.
Clickity-clack,
an endless symphony.
It’s time to face the music.
